I wouldn't start from here

about

Made at the start of the COP26 summit (Glasgow), this is the first realisation of parts of 'Pieces for a New Country', a graphic score I made in October 2019. While the graphic score encourages a positive and aspirational attitude of performance, this realisation is a reflection of the strange mixture of hope and doubt engendered by this critical juncture in the world response to the climate emergency. It consciously ends in a very different place from where it began. Hence, in the words of the old Irish joke (about a man who stops to ask a local how to get to Dublin): "If I wanted to get there, I wouldn't start from here."
